Starting and Charging

Merchant Automotive offers a wide range of starting and charging components for your Duramax vehicle. We carry starters, alternators, regulators, and battery accessories! We offer products from ACDelco, Aeromotive, Edge, FASS, GM, S&B, S&S Diesel, and of course Merchant Auto. No longer will you have to worry about a bad starter or alternator keeping you on the side of the road with one of our high quality replacement components from our variety of popular brands.

Our high quality Duramax starter solenoids are great for replacing the broken or damaged terminals on your starter instead of the entire starter assembly. This will ensure that you are saving money as well as just replacing what needs to be replaced. We also carry starter bolts and even an expandable starter kit! This allows users to connect multiple accessories, daisy-chain styles to the CS and CTS platform. By doing this allows the user to monitor and display dozens of parameters on a single device.

For your Duramax alternator, we carry both single and dual alternator serpentine belts for the different year-specific Duramax applications. In addition, to improve your Duramax battery location we offer a universal frame mount battery tray that will work well for frame mounting batteries in applications where the battery must be relocated from under the hood. This won’t fit top post batteries found in 2007.5 and newer model GM trucks.

In addition to the above-mentioned components, Merchant Auto carries much smaller, but essential components to ensure that your charging system performs as good as new. We are proud to offer all of these essential pieces to ensure that your starter, alternator, regulator, etc. keeps your Duramax on the road.

What Components Make Up The Duramax Charging System?

There are 3 main components that make up the Duramax Charging system which are the Alternator, Voltage Regulator, and the Battery. The alternator’s main goal is to convert mechanical energy to electrical energy using an alternating current. The voltage regulator is an electrical device that maintains the voltage of a power source within acceptable limits. Lastly, the battery is the vehicle’s power bank which supplies the necessary juice to the vehicle’s electrical components to work properly.
