What Is A Front Differential Carrier?

A front differential carrier is basically housing for the spider gears and cross pin in your front differential. The ring gear bolts onto one side of the housing to allow for proper rotation when power is applied. The front axles are mounted in the axle tubes and slide into the differential carrier. It is bolted into place by the differential carrier cap bolts.The front differential is responsible for controlling the 4 wheel drive function of Duramax trucks.
