Exhaust Valve Seat, Duramax | 2001 - 2016

This exhaust valve seat replaces GM part number 97212572. It is the hardened seat insert in the cylinder head that each exhaust valve closes against on the 6.6L Duramax diesel. It fits every engine from the 2001 LB7 through the 2016 LML in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks, and 2006-2016 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans. Exhaust seats take the most heat in the head, so they can burn, crack, recede or come loose. That causes low compression, misfires and, in the worst case, a dropped seat that damages the engine. Replace damaged seats during a cylinder head rebuild, and have them installed and cut by a qualified machine shop.
