Diesel Service Technician
Full-Time | Hourly | Monday-Friday | On-Site in Holland, Michigan
Position Overview
Merchant Automotive is looking for an experienced Diesel Service Technician who can accurately diagnose, maintain and repair light-duty diesel trucks.
This position uses customer-provided information, technical troubleshooting methods, team knowledge and independent research to solve complex problems. The technician must also provide clear written documentation in Shop-Ware that explains the diagnosis and work performed.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of diesel-mechanic experience
- State of Michigan mechanic certification
- ASE certification
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Personal set of professional tools
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in an automotive, diesel or performance-service environment
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to the team
Preferred Experience
- Three or more years working with Duramax diesel engines
- Working knowledge of Allison transmissions
- Experience using GM GDS2 or equivalent diagnostic tools
- Experience with Shop-Ware or similar shop-management software
Physical Requirements
- Safely inspect and repair vehicles, including working underneath vehicles and in physically demanding positions
- Frequently lift and maneuver parts and equipment, occasionally exceeding 50 pounds
- Remain on your feet for extended periods
- Safely operate shop equipment and diagnostic tools
- Work on-site during scheduled business hours

Service Writer
Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | On-Site in Holland, Michigan
Position Overview
Merchant Automotive is looking for an experienced Service Writer to manage the customer experience and service workflow from initial contact through completion.
This individual advises customers on service needs, coordinates repairs and maintains clear communication between customers, technicians and internal teams. The right candidate takes ownership of customer concerns and actively supports the performance of the service department.
Required Qualifications
- At least three years of experience as a service advisor or in a similar automotive or diesel-service position
- At least one year of diesel-industry experience
- Strong customer communication skills
- Ability to explain technical information and repair recommendations clearly
- Ability to manage multiple work orders, priorities and customer expectations
- Ability to move repairs from initial contact through completion
- Confidence making decisions and prioritizing work without constant direction
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Experience using shop-management or service software
Preferred Experience
- Experience in diesel or light-duty truck service
- Duramax experience
- Knowledge of repair processes and diagnostic terminology
- Experience supporting sales and customer retention
- Lead or senior service-advisor experience
Compensation and Benefits

Customer Service & Sales Professional
Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM | On-Site in Holland, Michigan
Position Overview
Merchant Automotive is looking for a motivated, customer-focused professional to build relationships, generate sales and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
This position helps retail and wholesale customers find the right products and solutions while supporting orders, returns and technical questions.
What You’ll Do
- Build relationships with retail and wholesale customers by phone and email
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
- Convert customer inquiries into sales opportunities
- Process customer orders and quotes accurately
- Assist with products, orders, returns and technical questions
- Follow up with customers and encourage repeat business
- Collaborate with sales, service, shipping and production teams
- Maintain accurate customer records
- Represent Merchant Automotive at trade shows and industry events
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of sales experience
- Strong customer-service and sales skills
- Confidence communicating by phone and email
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment

- Ability to commute to Holland, Michigan
