Maintenance Filter Pack, Duramax | 2001 - 2016

The Merchant Automotive Maintenance Filter Pack puts the three filters you replace most often on a Duramax into one kit: the engine oil filter, the fuel filter and the Allison transmission external spin on filter. It fits 2001-2016 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax diesel (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM and LML) and the Allison 1000 transmission.

Before You Order

• 2001-2016 trucks only: for 2017-2019 L5P trucks, see the L5P Maintenance Filter Pack.
• Oil is not included. Engine oil, transmission fluid and the oil drain plug are sold separately (see Related Parts).
• Filter color: ACDelco has shipped the PF2232 in both blue and white, and Allison has temporarily used black paint instead of red on the spin on filter. Both colors are the same part.

Installation Tips

• Save the transmission filter magnet. A magnet sits between the Allison spin on filter and the transmission. It often sticks to the old filter and gets thrown away by mistake. Clean it and reinstall it with the new filter. If yours is missing, see the Allison Spin On Filter Magnet.
• Fuel filter: after installing the new fuel filter, prime the fuel system with the hand primer on the fuel filter head before starting the engine.
• Customers have reported that the factory plastic fuel filter head bleeder screw can break during removal. Consider replacing it with the Merchant Automotive Aluminum Bleeder Screw.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I replace the Allison spin on filter?
Merchant Automotive recommends replacing the Allison external spin on filter every 12,000 miles. Owners on the DuramaxDiesels forum report changing it every other oil change. Check your owner's manual for GM's interval for your truck.

Can I use an aftermarket transmission spin on filter instead?
Owners on the DuramaxDiesels forum have reported that some aftermarket spin on filters have ports in different positions or a finer micron rating than the Allison filter, and one member warned this can restrict flow. This kit includes the genuine Allison filter.

Does this fit the Duramax Express or Savana van?
We have not confirmed van fitment for every filter in this kit, so it is listed for 2500HD and 3500HD pickups only.

Is there a proper way to recycle oil filters?
Yes. Drain the oil out of the filter and take it to a recycling center that accepts oil filters.
