The factory motor mounts on your 6.6L Duramax diesel are fine for normal driving, but over time, or in higher horsepower applications, the rubber mounts can rip. Ripped or broken motor mounts can cause excessive vibration or engine shifting while driving, putting other engine components at risk.
Merchant Automotive Duramax Motor Mounts are a direct replacement upgrade for 2001-2010 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the LB7, LLY, LBZ and LMM 6.6L Duramax diesel. They are engineered and built in house by Merchant Automotive in Holland, Michigan, as part of our focus on the Duramax and Allison platforms. They are made from steel for strength and durability, with high performance polyurethane bushings for a firm, yet flexible feel. They are finished in bright orange to add color to your engine bay, and high grade fasteners and thread locker are included for installation. Before You Order
Note: This is a performance mount built to handle the extra stress of high horsepower builds. Because of its stronger design, you may feel more vibration in the cab at a stop or at idle than with the stock mounts. This is normal and smooths out while driving, once the engine is above idle RPM.
Are My Duramax Motor Mounts Bad?
Excessive vibration is one of the key signs of bad or worn motor mounts, but it can be hard to tell engine mount vibration from suspension vibration. To check your motor mounts, open the hood, have a helper rev the engine while the truck is in park, and watch for excessive movement. If the engine rocks back and forth more than usual, your motor mounts likely need to be replaced. Factory mounts will correct the problem, but our motor mounts are a stronger replacement with longer lasting, higher performing polyurethane bushings.
Installation Tips
- Use the supplied thread locker on the mount to frame and mount to block bolts.
- Torque the mount to frame bolts to 43 lb-ft.
- Torque the mount to block bolts to 43 lb-ft.
- Torque the mount through bolts to 75 lb-ft.
