On the rear of the 6.6L Duramax diesel engine there is a coolant block off plate (GM 97941204). The factory plate is cast aluminum and seals with a gasket. Over time, warpage or gasket failure can let this plate leak coolant. The Merchant Automotive Billet Coolant Block Off Plate replaces the factory cast plate with a billet 6061 aluminum plate and a built in O-ring in place of the factory gasket. It fits 2001-2026 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax diesel (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML and L5P).

When to Replace
Replace the factory plate if you find coolant leaking from the block off plate at the rear of the engine, or if the factory plate is corroded. It is also a good upgrade when other work at the rear of the engine gives you access to the plate.
Before You Order
- Hardware is not included. The plate is designed to reuse the factory bolts.
- Replaces GM part number 97941204.
Installation Tips
- Torque the bolts to 18 ft-lbs.
- Clean the mating surface on the engine of old gasket material and corrosion before installing the new plate.
- Do not use a gasket with this plate. The built in O-ring seals against the mating surface.
- Check the coolant level after installation.
