GM Rear Cover Coolant Seal, Duramax | 2007.5-2016

This is the genuine GM rear engine cover-to-block coolant seal (GM 12644448) for the 2007.5-2016 6.6L Duramax, covering the LMM and LML engines. It's a green rubber press-in-place seal that seals the coolant passage where the rear engine cover (flywheel housing) meets the block. Replace it any time the rear cover is removed.

Benefits

This seal sits at the back of the engine, so it's usually replaced during a transmission, flywheel or rear main seal job, when the rear cover is already off. Because a coolant leak here means pulling the transmission again, putting in a new seal while you're there is cheap insurance. Replace if worn or damaged.
