This EGR tube to EGR valve gasket replaces GM part number 97318478 on 2004.5-2005 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500 trucks, and 2004.5-2005 Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick C4500 and C5500, with the 6.6L LLY Duramax. It seals the joint where the EGR tube connects to the EGR valve, keeping hot exhaust gas contained as it is routed back into the intake. A burned or blown gasket leaks exhaust and soot under the hood and can cause a ticking noise and EGR codes. Always use a new gasket any time the EGR valve or tube is removed.
