Why Replace It

The rear adapter housing connects the Allison transmission to the transfer case on 4WD trucks. A cracked or damaged housing can leak transmission fluid and needs to be replaced. Replacing the housing along with the output bearing, snap ring and gaskets restores a factory fit in one repair.

Installation Tips

  • Clean both mating surfaces before installing the new gaskets.
  • Install the new output shaft bearing and make sure the snap ring is fully seated in its groove.
  • Tighten all housing and transfer case bolts evenly to factory torque specs.
  • Consider adding a rear housing support to reduce stress on the new housing.
  • Check and top off the transmission fluid after installation.
