Lower Valve Cover Bolt Grommets, 24 Pack, LB7 | 2001-2004

This complete set of 24 lower valve cover bolt isolator grommets services one 2001–2004 LB7 6.6L Duramax engine in Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. Each lower valve cover bolt uses one grommet to seal the bolt and isolate the cover from engine noise and vibration, 12 per bank. The LB7's injectors sit under the lower valve cover, so these grommets come off with every injector job. After years of engine heat they harden and flatten, and reused grommets are a common source of oil seeps and added valvetrain noise. A fresh set seals the covers properly when they go back on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many grommets does my LB7 need?
One per lower valve cover bolt: 12 per bank and 24 for the whole engine. This pack covers both banks.

Can I reuse my old grommets?
We don't recommend it. The rubber hardens and takes a set after years of heat, so old grommets often won't seal or isolate noise properly once the cover is reinstalled.

When should I replace them?
Any time the lower valve covers come off, most often during an LB7 injector replacement.

How do I know if my truck is an LB7?
The LB7 was used in 2001–2004 trucks. Check the 8th digit of your VIN: an LB7 shows a "1."
