Turbo Oil Return Pipe Gasket at Engine, Duramax | 2011-2016

This gasket seals the turbocharger oil return (drain) pipe where it connects to the engine block on 2011–2016 LML 6.6L Duramax Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks and 2010.5–2016 LGH Express and Savana vans, including cutaways. Oil that lubricates the turbo drains back to the engine through this pipe. When the gasket at the block hardens or the pipe is disturbed during turbo or engine work, it can leak oil down the back of the engine, often mistaken for a rear main or oil pan leak. A new gasket reseals the connection. It replaces GM 12637218 and the earlier 12629988.

Is this the gasket at the turbo or at the engine?
This is the gasket at the engine block end of the oil return pipe. For the turbo end, see the Turbo Oil Return Pipe Gasket at Turbo. If you're removing the pipe, we recommend replacing both.

My old gasket is part number 12629988. Is this the right one?
Yes. GM replaced 12629988 with 12637218, so this gasket is the current replacement.

Can I reuse the old gasket?
We don't recommend it. Once the pipe has been removed, the old gasket won't reliably seal again.

When should I replace it?
Any time the turbo oil return pipe is removed: during turbo replacement or upgrades, EGR work, or when chasing an oil leak at the back of the engine.

Will this fit my 2017 or newer L5P?
No. This gasket fits the 2011–2016 LML and the 2010.5–2016 LGH van engine only.
