The Merchant Automotive rear output seal driver installs the rear output shaft seal in the NP246, NP261HD and NP263HD transfer cases used in 1999-2007 GM gas trucks and SUVs. It is sized to the seal so it presses in square and to the correct depth without denting the seal case or rolling the lip. That is hard to do with a socket or a hammer and drift. This driver is for HD cases only. It does not fit the 261XHD or 263XHD used behind the Duramax.

Benefits

A rear output seal that goes in crooked or too deep will leak again, and the rear driveshaft has to come back out to fix it. The driver spreads the force evenly across the seal so it seats flat on the first try. Frequently Asked Questions

Does this include a handle?
No. The driver fits our Steel Seal Driver Handle, which works with all of our seal drivers and installers. An O-ring on the handle holds the driver in place.

Will this fit my Duramax?
No. 2001-2007 Duramax trucks use the 261XHD or 263XHD transfer case, which takes a different rear seal. Use the Transfer Case Rear Output Seal Driver | 2001 - 2019 instead. That driver fits the HD, XHD and 2007.5-2019 MP1226/MP1626 cases.

How do I know which transfer case I have?
Check the ID tag on the rear half of the case. It will read 246, 261HD, 263HD, 261XHD or 263XHD.

Is there a kit with all the transfer case seal drivers?
