GM Glow Plug Rail (Bus Bar), LB7 Duramax | 2001 - 2004

On LB7 engines with federal emissions, the glow plugs are tied together with a rail (bus bar) that transmits power to each plug. In harsh climates, it's not uncommon for the bar to rust through and break the circuit, not allowing proper glow plug operation. This is the genuine GM glow plug rail, GM 97209343, for 2001-2004 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the 6.6L Duramax LB7 and federal emissions.

When to Replace

Inspect the bar carefully during any glow plug service and replace it if you see signs of corrosion. It is common for the rail to fail between cylinders 6 and 8 on the driver side rear of the engine. A broken rail can leave the glow plugs it feeds without power, which can cause hard cold starts.
