This set of 10 converter housing bolt seals is for the Allison 1000 transmission behind the 6.6L Duramax. The 10 bolts that hold the converter housing to the stator support each use a special seal under the bolt head. If those seals are damaged, fluid can leak from the front of the transmission. One set covers all 10 bolts and replaces GM 29555896.

Benefits

Any time the converter housing comes off the stator support, these seals should be replaced. Do it during a front pump or converter housing reseal, a torque converter replacement, or an overhaul. Reusing them risks a front-of-transmission leak that looks like a front pump or converter seal leak and means pulling the transmission again. Replace if worn or damaged. How many seals do I need?
The converter housing uses 10 bolts, each with its own seal. This set includes all 10.

Can I reuse the old bolt seals?
We don't recommend it. Once a seal has been compressed under the bolt head, it may not seal again, and a leak here means removing the transmission to fix it.

Is there a kit with everything for a converter housing reseal?
Yes. Our Allison 1000 Converter Housing Reseal Kit includes this bolt seal set plus the converter housing gasket, converter housing seal, pump housing gasket, front pump seal and front pump bushing.

Fitment

Fits the Allison 1000 transmission in 2001-2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD with the 6.6L Duramax LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML or L5P, both 5-speed and 6-speed. 10 seals required per transmission. Not for 2020 and newer trucks with the 10-speed 10L1000.
