This is the Snap Ring access hole Grommet for a GM NP246, NP261HD, NP263HD, NP261XHD or NP263XHD transfer case found in 2001 to 2007 GM Duramax vehicles as well as some 1998 to 2007 GM half ton trucks and SUVs. The grommet is located on the rear transfer case half.
NOTE: The Snap Ring Hole Grommet helps keep oil in the transfer case as well as prevents moisture and other road debris from entering the transfer case. If the grommet is damaged or missing replace it as soon as possible or costly damage could ensue. It must be removed to access the output bearing snap ring to split the transfer case in half for servicing the internal components.
