Water Pump Kit with Seals, Duramax | 2001-2005

This water pump kit replaces the water pump on the 6.6L Duramax in 2001-2005 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with the LB7 and LLY engines, and in 2003-2005 Chevy Kodiak and GMC Topkick C4500 and C5500 medium duty trucks. We put this kit together so the pump and the seals the job calls for arrive in one box. It includes a Gates water pump with a plastic impeller, the upper bypass pipe seal and the water pump outlet gasket, and it reuses your existing water pump cover.

Note: The crankshaft balancer bolt has to be removed to replace the water pump. The factory bolt is a one time use bolt and must be replaced. It is not included.

Signs of a Failing Water Pump

• Coolant leaking from the weep hole
• Rust or deposits on the impeller
• A loose water pump pulley
• A whining noise, which is less common
• Overheating

Before You Order

• This kit does not include a water pump cover. If your cover is corroded or damaged, the Water Pump Kit with Cover and Seals includes a new pump with a cover.
• The crankshaft balancer bolt and coolant are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this kit fit my 2006 or newer Duramax?
No. This kit fits 2001-2005 LB7 and LLY Silverado and Sierra trucks and 2003-2005 Kodiak and Topkick trucks. Some early 2006 trucks have the LLY engine, so check your engine before ordering.

Does this kit include the water pump cover?
No. It is designed to reuse your existing cover. If you need a new cover, use the Water Pump Kit with Cover and Seals.

Do I need a new crankshaft balancer bolt?
Yes. The balancer bolt has to come out for this job, and the factory bolt is a one time use bolt, so plan on a new crankshaft balancer bolt.

What kind of impeller does this pump have?
This Gates pump has a plastic impeller.

What are the signs my water pump is going bad?
The most common sign is coolant leaking from the weep hole. Rust or deposits on the impeller, a loose pulley, a whining noise or overheating can also point to a failing pump.
