Merchant Automotive 1-1/2" Wheel Adapters let you put 8 × 180 mm pattern wheels, like the wheels from 2011 and newer GM HD trucks, on a 2001–2010 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD with the earlier 8 on 6.5" (8 × 165.1 mm) pattern. Each adapter bolts to the truck's hub and gives you an 8 × 180 mm bolt pattern with M14 × 1.5 studs, while pushing the wheel out 1-1/2" for a wider stance and added clearance. These are bolt-on, lug-centric adapters: the adapter bolts to the hub on the factory studs, and the wheel mounts to the studs built into the adapter and is centered by its lug nuts. Because they're lug-centric, the newer wheels' larger center bore isn't a concern. They come with a black finish and are sold as a pair.
Key Features
- Converts 8 on 6.5" (8 × 165.1 mm) to 8 × 180 mm
- 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) thick
- M14 × 1.5 wheel studs built into the adapter
- Bolt-on, lug-centric design, so wheel center bore isn't a concern
- Black finish
- Sold as a pair, for one axle
Benefits
- Run 8 × 180 wheels, including 2011 and newer GM HD wheels, on your 2001–2010 truck
- Widens your stance by 1-1/2" per side
- Adds clearance for larger tires, big brakes or suspension components
Installation Note
- The factory wheel studs may need to be trimmed so they don't stick out past the face of the adapter and keep the wheel from sitting flat.
- Torque the adapter to the hub and the wheel to the adapter to spec.
- Re-torque the adapter after the first 100 miles. You'll need to remove the wheel to reach the adapter's nuts. Re-torque the wheel's lug nuts when you reinstall it.
- Not recommended for dually trucks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do these adapters do?
They let you put 8 × 180 mm pattern wheels, like those from 2011 and newer GM HD trucks, on a 2001–2010 truck with the earlier 8 on 6.5" pattern.
Will the larger center bore on 2011 and newer wheels be a problem?
No. These are lug-centric adapters, so the wheel is centered by its lug nuts, not by the hub. The center bore doesn't affect fit.
What thread are the adapter studs?
M14 × 1.5.
Are these hub-centric?
No. These are bolt-on, lug-centric adapters. The wheel is centered by its lug nuts on the studs built into the adapter.
Will I need to trim my factory wheel studs?
Possibly. If the factory studs stick out past the face of the adapter, they need to be trimmed so the wheel sits flat.
Do I need to re-torque them?
Yes. Re-torque the adapter after the first 100 miles. You'll need to remove the wheel to reach the adapter's nuts, then re-torque the wheel's lug nuts when you reinstall it.
Will these work on a dually?
No. These adapters are not recommended for dually (dual rear wheel) trucks.
How many do I need?
Each pair covers one axle. Order two pairs to adapt all four wheels.
