This is the GM water-in-fuel (WIF) sensor, GM part number 19541494, for the 2012-2016 6.6L Duramax LML. The sensor threads into the factory fuel filter and turns on the water-in-fuel warning when water collects in the filter, so it can be drained before it travels further into the fuel system.

Benefits

The sensor comes out at every fuel filter change, and its plastic body can be damaged by cross-threading or overtightening.
