The Perfect Allison Transmissions
Rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater the team at Merchant Automotive worked on eliminating the weak points in the Allison trans and building on the strong suits when developing the MAximum Transmission series of rebuilt Allison transmissions. MAximum Transmissions are available in two configurations with the Work Series designed for Duramax diesel truck owners that want a smooth shifting economical replacement that is an upgrade over a factory Allison transmission and the Pro Series for owners that have upgraded the performance of their Duramax and/or operates with a “heavy foot”. Currently available for 2001-2016 Duramax diesel trucks we will soon be offering MAximum Transmissions for 2017-2019 L5P Duramax truck owners as well.
Allison Transmission NOW Recommends DuraDrive HD For Your Trans
Starting in January 2021 Allison will recommend a TES 668 specification automatic transmission fluid, the first fluid available to meet the new standard is DuraDrive HD Synthetic 668 ATF from Petro-Canada. In fact, all Allison transmissions will use a factory fill of DuraDrive HD when they leave the factory. This does not mean that TES 295 fluids like TranSynd are bad, or will harm your Allison transmission, it just means that the engineers at Allison have asked for something even better, and in their rigorous testing and validation the new DuraDrive HD is a better fluid for Allison transmissions. It will offer extended drain intervals along with improved protection and performance for the valuable transmission in your Duramax truck. DuraDrive HD is also completely backwards compatible for every Allison transmission that requires an approved TES 295 fluid.
Make Your Truck Safer, PREVENT Bent IFS Tie Rods!
To greatly reduce the chance of bending or breaking a tie rod the team at Merchant Automotive developed precision-fit CNC-machined stainless-steel tie rod sleeves that thread onto the tie rod replacing the jam nut and strengthening the rod. With a large diameter center link and a strong cast tie rod end the eight or so inch length of small diameter tie rod is the weakest part of the steering system and can easily bend under heavy load. Rather than the difficult and expensive process of replacing the center link, tie rods and tie rod ends the MA solution uses their stainless-steel sleeve to strengthen the factory tie rod. The MA sleeve also becomes the jam nut for alignment adjustments and securing the tie rod end into position.
Permanently FIX Your 1998-2007 GM Transfer Case
To completely eliminate the possibility of pump rub related transfer case failures the team at Merchant Automotive developed an innovative precision-fit CNC-machined T-6061 billet aluminum top plate that replaces the factory transfer case pump top plate and provides much more surface area on the locating tabs. While the upgraded billet aluminum MA top plate is indeed still harder than the magnesium case the larger locating tabs prevent the pump from rubbing through the case as it moves during operation. With the precision CNC-machining handled in-house at the Zeeland, MI Merchant Automotive facility they have complete control over the parts and machining to make sure that every part fits and works exactly as designed. Other than the larger locating tabs the machined billet aluminum top plate fits and functions exactly the same as the factory pump top plate as far as securing the pump gears and pumping lubricating fluid throughout the transfer case.
