Transmission looks as in picture!

Was very satisfied with the quality of the build. Installed a couple days of go put several hundred miles on it transmission shifts and drives great. This transmission is built in house so if you have any problems you deal with them directly which is nice.

It was a very sad day when I called Charlie at MA to order a replacement Allison trans, but after talking with him I soon realized that I would be happy with this upgrade. Now I've owned my 2005 Silverado for 8 years and I have to say so far this new Work series Allison is smooth and strong feeling. Also a very important part in deciding who gets your business when you do purchase a replacement trans is 1. Support. 2. Quality. 3. Integrity. Now 2 out of three is good, but 3 out of three is even better, and that's what I experienced with MA.

Work series in a 2005 LLY CC/LB 4x4

Great install. Straight forward. All needed items for install were included. Truck has 250k miles on it when I did the trans with new t-case and rebalanced shafts. What a difference. After a few hundred miles now... it shifts great, drives smooth, no more vibrations. Merchant Automotive was a great help as the project developed. And work series pre assembled unit a great value if you able to swap it in yourself.

Fantastic Value

This is a great option for those folks who need a reliable rebuilt transmission. I changed it myself, but be forewarned, doing so is not for the fainthearted. However it's great to have a reliable team of mechanics at Merchant Automotive to call upon for technical support and their Iphone app is superb and contains all the torque settings you'll require. For those considering doing this yourself, if at all possible, using a truck lift and transmission hoist would make the job a whole lot easier, but it is possible to use axle stands, blocks, engine hoist and floor jacks to do the job as I did. A transmission floor jack is an absolute must. The cheap 800 lb one from Harbor Freight did the job, but make sure you use a strong ratchet strap to secure the transmission to the jack pad. Other than that I would recommend having a 12 ton bottle jack or similar, because once you drop the transmission from the truck you'll need to raise the truck chassis another 12 or so inches in order to swap out the transmission. Of course having a buddy to help is always welcome, but it is possible as in my case for one guy to do the job. The most awkward part of the job, being the removal and re-installation of the transfer case due to the 90 lbs or so in weight and it's desire to twist.
