OVERVIEW

Piece of Mind:
Drive line vibrations from a bad u-joint or other factors can put stress on the 4x4 transmission housing and cause it to crack. Replacing a housing can cost over $1000. Installing a rear housing support can keep your four wheel drive housing from cracking
Built to last:
Our Rear Housing Supports are fabricated in house right here at Merchant Automotive. Using 7/8 .120 wall DOM mild steel tubing for maximum support.

Easy to Install::
The support installs using the factory bolts. This brace can be easily installed in the driveway or garage .

   Thanks for the help Nick!, October 19, 2017  By Chris (Crestwood, KY)(Verified)
So I discovered my extension housing had a crack in it on my truck. I posted this in a group on FB and Nick with MA chimed in and directed me to the parts I’d need. Keep in mind, my truck is sitting on a rack at my mechanics shop. I ordered the parts around 2:00 and they were on my porch by 9:30 the next morning.

Definitely add this if you have an issue with your Adaptor housing. Even if you aren’t and you’ve got the factory Adaptor housing............INSTALL it NOW before it does become an issue and costs you big $$$$$$
   Solved the problem, August 1, 2017  By Anonymous (LONGMONT, CO)(Verified)
I have the 8.1 L and was having problems with a slight shimmy when the trans was under stress. This solved the problem. However, I will say that this site indicates the installation is easier than it actually is. This bracket mounts on the top of the transmission and some of the bolts are difficult to see in a driveway install. Once I figured that out it took about an hour to install.
