Fuel Injector Upgrades

Looking for larger injectors?  Look no further then Merchant Automotive!

If your looking for increased performance or fuel economy, the fuel injectors should not be overlooked.  Using the best equipment in the business, we will rework your fuel injector or start with Bosch remans to suit your needs.

All injectors are calibrated on genuine Bosch equipment in actual conditions.  You will receive a full analysis as well as a calibration sheet that lets you know exactly how the injector flows at idle, part throttle conditions and WOT conditions.  These are not just ran on an abrasive hone machine.

Once the nozzles are opened up to the desired flow percentage, then the injector is reassembled and the set is balanced to with in +/- 5%.

Check out the table below for full pricing and information.

To help understand the table, lets use an example:

You have a 2004 LB7 Duramax with a good running engine and 75,000 miles on it.  You decide its time for some fuel system upgrades and you want to go to 30% larger injectors.

Baseline Test $450.00
Cleaning Charge $90.00
Media Flow Nozzles to 30% $374.00
Calibration and Balance $728.00
Total $1642.00

Now, lets look at the same job but starting with a Reman Bosch injector.

Reman Injectors - Set of 8 $1800.00**
Media Flow Nozzles to 30% $374.00
Calibration and Balance $546.00
Total $2720.00
** Does not include core charge

Since we are starting with new injectors, we can avoid the Baseline test and cleaning charge.  Also the Calibration and Balance test charge is reduced by 25% since the new injector is going to be more predictable and easier to calibrate.

Now, the next question most have is how big of an injector to go with.  I've put together an outline with basic recommendations only.  Consult with us or your local builder if your unsure.

Injectors with 20-30% increase will be really good for a stock upgrade.  The flow improvement will help with fuel economy and throttle response.  When properly tuned, engine longevity will be increased as pulse width ( time the injector is open ) and timing can be decreased.  Also, most of the smoke normally associated with bigger injectors can be cleaned up and the truck will still run as clean as stock.  Fuel mileage is typically improved as well at this level.  This is a great upgrade from stock when your injectors need replaced.  If your injection pump (CP3) is in good condition, it should support these injectors.  A lift pump is recommended however.

Injectors with 40-60% increase are great for guys with a moderate turbo upgrade.  Its usually bigger then you would want for a stock turbo application but can be used with them.  Even more important with an injector this big is proper tuning.  You will want to be sure have the truck custom tuned as 'boxed' tuners will not work well.  They are set for stock flow injectors and while you may be able to get away with it with a 20-30% injector, its not safe to use with anything larger.  When using injectors of this size, you should have a lift pump as well.  A modified CP3 pump or Dual Fuelers is recommended as well for optimum performance.

Injectors from 70-100% increase are great for larger single turbo application or twin turbo applications.  Generally used in race applications but can be streetable with proper tuning.  At this level, you will need to have a modified CP3 pump or Dual Fuelers as well as a lift pump to properly supply these injectors

When reworking the injectors, every job is quoted with the Baseline Test and Cleaning  unless we start with new/reman Bosch injectors.   Also, you may choose to just have the Media Hone done of the nozzles.  If the injector is assembled, there will be a charge of $90.00 to swap the nozzles and the hone charge.
